Mark Adams - AKA Dean Martin - at WJCT

Had the wonderful opportunity of taking Mark Adams, or Dean Martin as he appears in tonight's show "That's Amore - A Dean Martin & Friends Holiday Special", to the WJCT studios this morning for an interview with Melissa Ross on First Coast Connect. Always a great time and a wonderful show!

Hilary and "Dean"

Melissa and Mark had a great conversation about
Dean's life and the huge presence he had both
on and off the stage, despite being a very private man.

Apparantly, Dean was known as the "Drunk One",
always having a drink in his hand. It was actually apple juice!

After a great interview, Mark transformed his natural
British accent into Dean's All American voice for
"Ain't That A Kick In The Head".

Don't miss "That's Amore - A Dean Martin & Friends Holiday Special" tonight at the Times Union Center's Moran Theater at 7:30pm! Call The Artist Series Box Office at 632-3373 or visit us online for tickets!

Ain't Love A Kick In The Head...

Come share your holiday season with the classics and favorites of Dean Martin with "That's Amore: A Dean Martin and Friends Holiday Special", coming to the Times Union Center's Moran Theater on Wednesday, December 16th at 7:30pm.

During the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, many superstars dominated the American recording scene. None shone more brightly than (Dino Crocetti) Dean Martin, his superb romantic voice, laconic style and Italian good looks, took him to the top of the charts, saw him star in many great movies including “Rio Bravo” with John Wayne, “Hollywood or Bust” with Jerry Lewis and “Oceans Eleven” with Frank Sinatra.

His comedy partnership with Jerry Lewis resulted in a fantastically successful 10 year television series “Martin & Lewis”. His relationship with Sinatra and Sammy Davis lead to the “Rat Pack” becoming the biggest attraction in Las Vegas.

“MARK ADAMS is DINO”

Mark Adams captures perfectly the style the looks, the charm, the voice and the magnetic appeal of Dean Martin.

Mark won acclaims from the critics and the public alike for his portrayal of Dean Martin in the “Rat Pack” in London’s West End during the past 3 years. He stars now with the famous Dino Ladies “The Golddiggers” and his fabulous band to bring you such hits as “Memories are made of this” “Volare”, “Little Old Wine Drinker”, “Return to Me!”, “Gentle on my Mind”, “Ain’t that a Kick” and “That’s Amore”.

To re-live the romance in your life, come along and join Dino and his guests for a very special night to remember!

The Review is in! "'The Color Purple' Has Spirit to Spare"

The Florida Times Union has posted their review for The Color Purple on their website, Jacksonville.com! Check it out!

'The Color Purple' has spirit to spare

Touring show at Times-Union Center through Sunday

“The Color Purple” is about the resilience of the human spirit.
The musical based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel, which won a Pulitzer Prize, came to Broadway in 2005 andopened Tuesday night at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.
And it does a nice job of capturing both the pain and the glory of the book.

Oprah Winfrey Presents The Color Purple

Oprah Winfrey Presents The Color Purple opens tonight in Jacksonville!!! It will be here through Sunday, November 22nd for eight performances.

This extraordinary production has defied the odds from the very beginning and continues to amaze and inspire people across the country.

One of the actors in the production, Angela Robinson, who plays the wild and seductive Shug Avery who helps bring hope to Celie in a time when she had none, is originally from Jacksonville and a graduate of Raines High School.

Angela Robinson as Shug Avery in The Color Purple

On Monday, November 9th, Angela visited her alma mater to meet with students who were passionate about the performing arts, and let them know that whatever their dreams may be, they are achievable.

Angela talking to the students about her path to success in the biz!

While Angela will tell you that in real life she is not really very similar to Shug, her message to those Raines students mirrored the message that Shug brings to Celie. There is always hope!
