Menopause The Musical

The Off-Broadway and international hit sensation Menopause The Musical is coming to Terry Theater to celebrate its 10 years of “The Change” for two days only! Old school women experience an old school groove in this upbeat, comical production that highlights the effects of aging somewhat gracefully. The hilarious musical is set in NYC’s Bloomingdale’s store, where four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra meet by chance at a lingerie sale. The cast laughs at their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges. A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realize that menopause is no longer The Silent Passage! It is a stage in every woman’s life that is perfectly normal!

Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer and producer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “The Change”. An uncomfortable, irritating, monstrous change that will strike most women as they reach their ripened peak. The hilarious 90-minute production includes parodies from the classics of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. The cast transforms popular hits to fit the relevancy of their elderly drama as they grow to accept “The Change” while vowing to never lose the liveliness of their youth.

Since the 2001 opening in Orlando, Florida, Menopause The Musical has entertained audiences across the country in more than 450 US cities, total of 15 countries and nearly 300 international cities. Internationally, the show has visited Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, and South Korea. Each week women of all ages and stages find their spirits lifted by the show’s light-hearted look at menopause. It’s The Hilarious Celebration of Women and the Change!

See the women of Menopause The Musical showcase their joys and frustrations live on April 30 and May 1, 2011 at 2:00 and 5:30 p.m., respectively, at the Terry Theater.
